I've run my Honda with just the long pipe

rode a Honda for years with a straight pipe
sounded nice and loud -- always ran strong and hard

did not hurt it -- it was a 4-stroke
2-strokes are much different regarding back pressure -- may be critical

always fun to hear that thing
