Check for air leaks at the head gasket, intake gasket, carb/intake connections. If you don't find any air leaks, put your carb clip on the leanest setting. Also, you could test without the air filter for any change. Also, clean carb. You should be using about 24 to 1 gas/oil mix for break-in and 32 to 1 after.
