Also, maybe pull that sprocket cover and get a pic inside there (showing the sprocket/chain mesh). Do you also use the engine to slow down, or careful to clutch and use brakes more?

I dont use engine braking ever on the bike. I know on a car it can eat the thrust out of a crankshaft over time, so I wouldnt try it on something made in china. Anytime I slow down I grab the clutch and coast. I also dont take off hard, I noticed my studs last a lot longer that way.

If the master link clip is on backwards it will pop off exactly as you are describing - the closed side should run into the motor while riding.

That is exactly how I have the clip on, I dont want the open side to catch anything while rotating. Ive also tried the clip side of the master link facing in towards the bike and and out towards the frame neither way had any real difference.
