So my manual for my 1989 yamaha cw50. The Prebug one says to put 10w30 in but everything online is closer to 80w90. Anyone know if it’ll hurt it. I bought Lucas oil 80w90 gear oil.

Manual says 10w30 but 80w90 has about the same viscosity as 10w30 so you'll be fine using either

However, Gear oils are made to prevent certain types of metals from corrosion and when a manual calls to use Gear oil ya better use it

I believe my 87 honda aero originally called for 10w30, but on most scoot forums they say to swap over to 80w90 gear oil. That lucas gear oil is good stuff. Well anything by lucas is good, it greatly reduces wear over others conventional type oils.
