Use of high octane fuels in small engines

Kind of pointless. More octane fights pinging/detonation and that's all it does. These things run 7:1 compression, so they should survive on the lowest of low-grade gas. Premium fuel has more detergent additives, and those can be useful.

Oil, however, has a very low octane rating, so adding it to fuel reduces its rating. You shouldn't be using enough oil to reduce it by a meaningful amount, however. Maybe if you're using a high-compression head you could benefit from using premium, but only if it's pinging now.

Less power unless your timing or compression requires it. Most of these bikes run best on regular old pump gas.

I've herd to use premium gas 91 in a 2 stroke, cause the oil in the gas reduces the octane rating by 2 to 3 points, so by using premium gas that just brings the octane level back up to normal where it should be at 87.

The only thing I know is... My motor loves that 40:1 high octane TruFuel.(y)(y)
