I probably should get my hands on a Dremel (or whatever), some carbide bits, a degree wheel, some jugs and start to figure out port tuning. Or at the very least make the closest thing to a replica of my current ZMS jug. Had the head off last night replacing the aluminum gasket with a BBR copper version and noticed a ~1mm dot of chrome that came off about 1/4in from the deck and I'm not willing to pay the price ZMS charges for just the ported jug. However, southern AZ is hot as hell and working in the garage this time of year sucks ass so I'm going to put that off until the end of August and just hope the jug lasts until then.
With having the transfer ports wide open like that, wouldn't giving the top edge of it a slight ramp vs a sharp edge help mitigate that issue? To do it without badly affecting the timing it would either have to be a very minor ramp or material would need to be added to make the ramp end at the same height the unramped one did. I'll have to play around with that once I get some tools and whatnot.
That is motivating to hear about the reed setup!
it should have some bridges on the transfer ports or the rings are going to go inside the transfer ports one day i seen the damage that jug design does many times

I'm using the 21mm and a reed setup. Its more than enough.it definately makes the bike more responsive. Runs and drives like a regular motorbike now. I'm with ya I enjoy working on these too. I'm a mechanic and fix cars all day and hate every minute of it. Fixing people's s**tboxes sucks the enjoyment of cars right out of you. I can fix anything on my bike with a handful of tools I can fit into my pocket and not $50+ thousand I have in tools at work in ginormous toolbox. And if it breaks I can carry the engine down into my basement with one hand. A small block Chevy not so much lol. And it's affordable that's the best part. Warp an aluminum big block chevy head and your into thousands of dollars. Warp a China girl head and your out 15 bucks.
