Air/exhaust leak?

So I flipped the intake around and it is much more level. It sits a tiny bit to the right but not too bad- I don’t think anyway.

I still haven’t received my new gaskets but I had one that came with my other bike so I put that on and it stopped spraying gas out of the exhaust port. Which is good.

It still idles extremely high and sprays gas out of the head. Luckily I also purchased head and base gaskets. Just had a feeling it would all need to be replaced.

Any other suggestions while I am at it?

Yep...Make sure the head is torqued, in an X pattern to 144 inch pounds after every heat cycle, basically everytime you take it for a ride, for the first 200 miles or so, but only do this after the motor is cold again, never when hot or warm....It will eventually seat itself in after that amount of miles and then you shouldn't be having it sucking in air and and screwing up your idle, high revving and running too lean, or sucking air through the head or losing compression.

Make sure to recheck the exhaust and intake hold down bolts periodically as well since they may loosen up for a while as well.

Yeah, I have a bad exhaust leak and I need to re tighten the exhaust. I've just been so darn busy with school and sports that I haven't fixed it yet even though it takes about 2 minutes and a 10mm wrench.

Thank you. I’m hoping that’s all that’s wrong with the motor.

I know what you mean. Too much stuff and not enough time!

To save my self time and money I buy foil tape made for air ducting. I lay down 3-4 layers over top of my exhaust and intake ports. Then get a razor and cut out the holes for the ports. I only have to change them once every 2 months. But it makes for a great gasket and seals good to. 1 roll will last you a lifetime. $9

Many people seem to have issues with the exh gaskets at first, this is because those fasteners come lose at the first few heat cycles and the gasket shrinks.
There are better quality gaskets with a crush ring like the Toyota o2 sensor gasket or material like that from fel pro to make your own that will last for years.
Removing the studs and replacing them with Allen head cap bolts and using loc tight helps to stop them from loosening and keeps a much better seal, also using a file to flatten both surfaces ensures good matting of of parts and gasket.
