2006 24" Brown NE5

It'll be a 2006, Whizzer came out with the Vintage Maroon NE-5 in 2006

Maroon is a cool retro color and many were glad to see it come back in 2006, the 2001 - 02 WC-1 Pacemaker 2 was Maroon
2002 Pacemaker 2 also came in Midnight Blue and Candy Apple Red
Yup! Data plate says 08/06. Poor thing doesn't look that maroon any more, but you can still see the red in it. Sun bleached. You saw the speedo.

Maroon is the color of the paint, Brown is the color of the rust

Good score, she should be a good bike
It appears to be bone stock. Haven't looked inside yet. Speedo reads 430.3.

Its going to be restored. A lot has to be replaced. I paid $450 for it. It was listed as a 99 but I noticed it had an NE5 cylinder block. I asked him to send me a picture of the data plate and it read 08/06. It is an early NE5. The frame has the attach point for the brake switch for a coaster brake. It has a band brake. No matter, all that is going.
Damn, that's a good deal for any whizzer. I look forward to seeing your progress

Its 66P010184
Here is my full VIN. The 10th digit is the year. RF4WMC1535P008920 Looks like you have the last 9 digits and so the second one is the year and of course as was known, 2006. The issue is the WC1 MFG date code had the year first and the month second. While the NE5 has the month first and the year second. For example, my "2005" has the MGG of 08-04 which is august of 2004 but of course it is a 2005 as the tenth digit is a 5 in the VIN above. My first attempt at buying a whizzer it was a WC1 and the guy was adamant that the year of the bike was a 2008 as the MFG code was 01-08. I have also seen big auction house listings that had it wrong as well by using the MFG date and not the full VIN (Serial Number)

Keep us posted on the restoration.

Tell those auction houses, that for a small fee you'd be willing to come by and date all their Whizzers for them.

I'll start a new thread once I get started. Going to have three bikes going at once. The other two are just a few mods. Shooting for the end of summer but may begin sooner. I'm expecting the only thing left original to the bike will be the frame, tank and engine. Paint starting to bubble in spots. Since I bought this for my son he wants it to be a 26" like mine. My daughter wants a 24" so if I can find another, I may make this one her bike. Fenders are dented but repairable. Rubber parts are rotted.

Its a great thing Couldn't be happier.

Picked up a brown 24" NE5 this past weekend. I made me think of a question that was asked on this forum, "Where are all the Whizzers?" Man this thing is crusty from being left out in the weather for some time. Engine turns and has compression. The tank venting problem saved the tank, it's clean.

The first thing that is confirmed for me is that all 24" Whizzers are 26" bikes with 24" tires and fenders. Didn't know they made 24" NE5's.
A Dimond in the ruff! Get it running first, fix all the bugs.
Rechrome your chrome stuff, they'll be better then buying new ones. All vintage pacemaker where maroon with 24" wheels.
Keep us posted on your progress.

Kind of late for thinking about getting replacement parts, my new fork assembly and fender arrived. The old forks may have some internal water damage. I'm going to attempt to restore them later. I would rather have the parts on hand then have to wait for replacements later. Besides would I get another opportunity to acquire the correct forks in this good of shape again.
