Introduce Yourself & some hard questions

New here, first post.

Not new to bikes, repair, or construction.
I have a link to a bike I built on another thread (didn't think it appropriate
to post my question here, but I have been lurking for a while and have
greatly enjoyed this forum.

Trying to build a commuter bike (see my other thread). It's downhill to
work, and I could use a little boost getting back home. Just looking for
a small push to help with the pedaling.

How far is your commute

Well, that's an embarrasing question.
It alternates every year. A little less than
two miles. After March 1st it will be a little
over two miles. Yeah, I guess I should be
walking but I took a bad fall several years
ago and tore my ankle pretty good. I was
off work for many months. However, I had
planned to use the bike for trips to the store,
(3 miles) get in better shape, and keep miles
off my truck. Hoping to reduce my driving by
4,000 miles/year.
