I prefer being able to buck headwinds and climb hills vs. being able to go 40 MPH.

Always ride with a DOT helmet, a rear view left side mirror, leather gloves, sturdy shoes, and lights front and rear. Don't speed, don't ride sidewalks, be courteous to pedestrians, use hand signals when mixing in traffic, make a visible effort to look like you're attentive to your surroundings.
