Newbie from north GA,just finished my first build.
It started with a old Murray cruiser frame from the 80s I am guessing,I put a mountain bike forks, wheel and front brakes.
Upgraded most of the fasteners,head studs,engine mounts,intake and exhaust,etc and put lock tight on all fasteners.

It cranked fine but wouldn't rev, moved clip on carb needle and ran fine after that,it just has a serious lack of power up and hill above 10 percent grade,it has a 44 tooth sprocket with 26 inch wheels but It is still in the break in stage.

It is a standard China girl 66 without any modifications other than a NGK plug,the jetting looks close to me going by the plug color,dark brown color.

Ditch the rear wheel with the coaster brake and find something a little better. I blew up a coaster brake and took a tumble, luckily I just hit the ditch with weeds and soft sand.

Old cruiser bikes are comfy to ride.
Looking for a good back wheel and rim brakes,I do have a rim from a mountain bike I could use with rim brakes.

I wanted a rim with disc brakes,but I need the large sprocket because all the steep hills in my area,foot hills of the blue ridge mountains;

A 10\44 should be fine for hills below a 10% grade; unless you're a very very large person (300+ lbs). Break-in is of the utmost importance with the 2-strokes. However, there are mods the 2-stroke builders will be able to help you with.

I am 200 lbs,most of the hills are more than 10,10-30 grade just guessing,thinking about a 48 tooth sprocket.
not too worried about top speed but I am worried about doing too much pedaling up the hills.

I just sold a 150 hp bike replaced it with a 1.5 hp bike.lol 83 Kawasaki GPZ 1100,the performance differences are noticeable.

If you want to preserve the old grips and you're finding them a little hard to come off, get an air line and blow some air in the open end. If you clean those old ones up, they're going to be great, but of course you will need a thump throttle for the right side.

Even my old Yamaha cruiser is 65 hp or so.
Here is some better pictures.
