OK so take some time to look that over. I need feedback on feasibility, reliablity, and missing parts. I might need to change the drive ratios of the gas kit but a top speed of 30 is all I want/need.

What is missing here seems to be a controller that would allow both gas engine throttling, and electric power control . The old Honda motorcycles had a throttle that divided, and pulled open 2 carbs . One side could pull carb, other one operate an electric controller.

Twist the throttle, and both power units kick in I wonder if sensors could be built into a gas throttle, which would trigger the hub motor during certain throttle settings ?

I have a Grubee powered Worksman I N B Running a clamshell hub, and a Chain Path Idler of my own design . The bike is very rigid, goes in a straight line, and handles like a dream . The frame got some gusseting for the 2 leg kickstand, and the caliper brakes took some imagination

It's actually easier than all of that. Balancing output is done automatically by controllers equipped with a PAS, (pedal assist system).
I.e. the motor setups that has hal effect sensors.

Those controllers can sense how much effort the motor is applying to the bike and will balance the voltage to the motor automatically to keep the motor from overrunning the gas engine.

Again, remove the stickers from the engine and the cops won't know the difference.

There is only one place it lists the displacement of the predator engine, and that's a sticker on the pull start cover. Its easily removed, and in no other way can the engine be identified.

Thank you. I heard you the first time.

1. The actual displacement is irrelevant as the law is written, total horsepower is the limiting factor. Which is measured by how fast it goes.

2. I am not comfortable at this time with that form of deception. And I doubt I could refrain from driving at full throttle for long either.

I'm not saying your suggestion isn't without merit to another California MxBer, I'm just not ready for it at this time. Thank you.

Actually, there IS a displacement limit as the law is written. 150CC and higher is automatically classified as a motorcycle in the state of California.

Hence, the maximum legal displacement for a motorized bicycle in California is 149CC.

Also, the state wants people to send money ($18) in for a license plate. Some areas enforce this more than others.

link to DMV form: http://www.dmv.ca.gov/portal/wcm/connect/8bf1936a-a49a-4063-a819-a5dfc8ff5691/reg230.pdf?MOD=AJPERES

Fill out form, send it in with check or money order for $18, your plate will be sent to you.

That's cool. Can you quote section and paragraph so I can look it up?

The law I posted the link to was the definition of "motorized bicycle" which doesn't need to be registered ever.
According to the definition a motorized bike is limited to 4 brake horsepower regardless of engine size, and limited to 30mph.

I like those solid wheels, but the web page doesn't list distributors or prices.
No it doesn't list prices or retailers.
That is the page for Wholesale buyers and approved Distributors.
Nobody in the states carries those wheels in 26" I know of yet, but I may stock a set or two once I get my sales site up and stocked.
