I have a slipping clutch on my two stroke engine. I have it apart and cleaned. I'm ready to install the new black clutch pads and am wondering does it matter which way they go in? Also do I need to lub the bearings in the pad housing? If I do I'm afraid it will get on the new pads and cause it to slip again. Thanks!

pads usually are cut for black side in - be sure to check that they fit all the way thru easily to grab on both surfaces

I used to force just a tiny bit of grease into that area, but stopped as I realized those balls only move when clutch is pulled and that is probably less than 1 hour out of every 100 hours of running

I see that your retaining collar is quite loose - factory must not have seated it properly - that can be pressed down until it seats on the pressure plate, leaving less gap where your bearings are showing (but it isn't too important, as clutches are cheap)
