Anyone have a bike stolen or almost?

Hi Tom,

Just a note of condolence for you.

I had heard about your dear friend, Gene Peterson, had just passed away some days ago and I do know how much it hurts to lose someone close to you...At our ages now, we tend to lose more and more loved ones as time marches on, and I know that nothing makes it easier to accept.
I appreciate your kindness Damien. You are again not acting as a moderator. The power that is not seen and all fear. Kinda like a God.

FYI
Gene was a good s**t and had the terror of war caused by intense fire fights in Vietnam. There is still a hootch in his woods he slept in for years .
Spoke to his wife Linda yesterday on the phone. I asked her " the quiet is tough?" and she said "Ya".
So I said " Instead of cremation, Get him stuffed ". There was a moment then.

Once, forty some years ago, tuned up with beer. Gene said to me, my buddy and I sitting next to each other. A VC bullet struck him dead.

Tom

You are correct Tom, I do NOT act like any moderator that you have seen in other forums, being all official and lurking in the shadows telling people their being bad and banning people willy-nilly like I have witnessed in many other forums...Someone has to repeatedly and flagrantly violate the very few, simple rules that we have here...Heck, I don't even issue "official" warnings at all, I will only edit out anything offensive like bad language, personal attacks on other members, etc. and move on.

I am a forum member FIRST as I also build bikes and ride and share my knowledge with others, I just happen to also be a moderator and have been very much accepted by the membership of the forums, especially after having some pretty bad mods over the years.

So that being the case, I am glad I do not act like a moderator but more like a human being that actually cares about our forum and the love we have for our bikes and the comraderie we have found here together with each other as equal members, none being before or after another.

The power that is not seen and all fear. Kinda like a God.
NOPE, I have no desire to be "God" or play God, besides, that job is already taken...lol...By ONE much better qualified and perfectly well suited for that job than I could ever be...lol...I also have no desire to have anyone "fear" me like a god as noted in the quote from you either...We all get along quite well with everyone being a team player in our effort to be of help to others.

This is what I have built for myself and ride almost daily..,.I have it so reliable now that i do not even have a need for a car any longer since here in my part of the desert, we have on average 360 days of sunshine per year...lol.

It is equipped with three tailights, two headlights, two front side marker lights, two horns and a hidden alarm system and bike locks as well as my own home made front motor mount and disk caliper adaptors to the frame.

I had a bmx back in the early 80`s that was from a guy i know that was sponsored by Robinson. They had made him a custom frame. And i ended up with it. It got stole. I still wonder what happen to it, hoping it did get scraped into pieces.

Since most bicycles are registered, their stripped of parts and sold, Frames are thrown away
Registered with who? Assuming you mean regular bicycles, they tried that back in the day in a lot of cities, but it died out due to noncompliance. You registered it with the local popo and got a little sticker for the bike. Sorta kinda like a reg sticker for your plates.

In Hawaii I would find piles of frames out in the bushes, Stripped for parts by drug addicts selling the parts to a fence

Same here in CA. I find striped bicycle frames all the time out in the bushes,

BTW I never registered a bicycle in my life.

Once in Hawaii I tried to sell a bicycle at a flea market, no one would buy it because it wasn't registered
They all thought it was stolen
