I was wondering if it would be ok to bend my tensioner some to make the chain alignment come out right. Right now the chain is sorta pulling off near the top of the sprocket sooner than it should. I don't want to lose the chain when I finally get the bike running. Would bending the tensioner a little destroy it's integrity too much?

TIA,
cd

You want the pulley parallel to the flat part of the chain above all else. If you have to canter the bracket in to get proper alignment you should actually undo this effect by bending the top part of the bracket.

If it's something that can be solved by loosening the bracket-to-frame bolts, adjusting, and retightening... do it.

ok.... pulley parallel to the chain.. got ya. Thanks for the help eljefino. I appreciate it. I will let you know how it turns out. I'm going to go sit down and take a fresh look at things. Maybe I can figure out another way.
