BRAND NEW engine, sounds like a blender!!

I just started the engine today, I had this as a spare. I just blew the rings on my old motor (knew it was going so just went on it knowing I had this backup motor) - ordered a rebuild kit this morning.

slapped the new engine on after adjusting things, took a little to start, but now runs good, idles fine, running a 20:1 with some quality oil, a little stabil in the gas to keep it fresh as I don’t ride often, but it sounds like a blender! Even just at idle. Definitely some sort of metal tapping. I took the head off after a little running and it’s not hitting the head. What should I check? I took a video but not sure how to upload it on this site here.

Look in the crankcase see if there’s bits of metal in there.

That sounds like the exhaust vibrating on something to me. Got a picture of the motor, both sides?

I’ll rip it down and check for metal soon. And I’ll grab some pictures here of both sides. I feel it’s coming from the motor, I thought I had tightened the bolts pretty dang snug but perhaps they could go more for the exhaust. Otherwise the exhaust isn’t touching the bike what so ever.. I feel it’s some noise in the engine itself.

Try running it without that clamp around the intake.

Update, it’s definitely not the muffler. Seems to be internal. I will just tear it down here and see. I was told by a friend it sounds like a faulty crank bearing. Didn’t seem to be any scoring on the cylinder or head.
