just sayin, but folks interested in logging engine hrs would like to know from users of such devices is, what happens when battery dies?

Does it reset to zero, or get total hours from firmware?

I have no clue, I've never kept a bike with one on it long enough to die, and not seen one die.
I'll try and contact the oldest customer I put one on and ask when I get a chance.

I would like to add an interesting footnote to this thread. My bike has a 66 HT and a 36 tooth rear sprocket and much of the time I'm running near full throttle. The Bicycle Computer digital speedo is telling me my average speed is between 14.7 and 15.1 MPH.

It sounds like you don't have the right value set for your wheel size in the speedo as that would be a pathetic top speed.
