engine mounting types

so, I have been looking at different ways to mount the engine. I have a chung yang f230 on a felt road bike and I mounted it to top and did a friction drive. Is chain or belt driven better?

Welcome to the forum. I'm afraid I have no 1st hand experience with that.
In general, friction works good in good weather but can rapidly wear out the drive tire.
Rear rack mounted motors can run belts or chains. Most rack mount guys I see on the site run a chain. Search this site for "rack mount" to see how others have been handling it.
