I went for my first "longer" drive. It wasn't long though, like 1 mile. When I got home, my engine was smoking a little. Is that normal? It wasn't a lot. Curious! It's brand new, and it had a little built up grease and stuff on it-- maybe it was just that?

MBC EDIT: THIS THREAD HAS BEEN MOVED

If you dont see any signs of leaking anywhere its normal. It will go away after approx your 3rd long ride. Because of weather at first I was only able to go on 5 minute runs. It didnt clear up until a few long rides.
If it keeps up, somethings going on and you should check under the clutch cover. Then small chain sprocket for lube. Or wires touching something hot again. Etc....Etc

Yes, what the other's said. the first two days, my black muffler was smoking like a............well.....a lot. :D

I know this may sound weird, but I like that smell of new smoking engines.

Sounds pretty normal for a new HT but if it persists then investigate further.

Ahh yes nothing like the smell of a two stroke, especially on Dino oil. Synthetics cleaner, but call me old fashioned I like a bit of smoke.
