Hi folks,

I found a Schwinn Stingray stealth for sale and excitedly picked it up. It ran great my first time out, went about 5-7 miles with no problems.

I then laid the bike on its side while turning on some gravel and this has resulted in my chain coming off and breaking.

I’ve got a new 415 chain on nice and secure and I went to put the clutch cover plate back on and noticed I had lost this little metal rod that goes inside the front small sprocket. This part fell out somewhere and is preventing the clutch from functioning.

Ive purchased this set to get that one little clutch pin and I’m hoping someone here can confirm this is the correct part -

3 hole clutch cover set

Any advice would be appreciated

That should do it for you, provided the seller on ebay actually delivers, i never use ebay myself due to too many horror stories ive heard from others...lol.

I see these parts here as well from Amazon. (click on link)

Be sure to check that the little steel ball is in there and you didnt lose that as well...for lack of a better term, i just call it the throw out bearing, it goes in there before placing the bar in the hole.

Be sure to place either some white lithium grease or "red and tacky" on the bucking bar at the concave end that fits the bearing, also dab some of that grease on the other end as well where it comes into contact with the actuating rod that is in the clutch cover housing...DAMIEN

Awesome thank you for the replies. I’m now worried that eBay won’t show up haha
Thanks again

Why are there so many metal shavings on the small gear and all around ?
Hmm I’m not sure. Again, I’ve only put a few miles on the original chain before it broke and I had to take it off, and I do notice this.
Is this something to be concerned about? Or something that is seen commonly?

I've used ebay quite a few times. Only one time with ebay, a seller purposely didn't ship an item I bought from him up for auction. I was the only bidder so I got it for a low price and I don't think he liked that. I contacted him several times and kept telling me he'll ship it. Eventually there was an automatic message from ebay asking if my product got delivered yet and I can file a claim if not.

So I filed the claim, it was easy. I won and got a full refund within a few days. Sure enough that seller put that item up for sale again the next day. I reported him for fraudulent activity. The listing got took down an hour later lol. Haven't seen the listing again 😆

Your chain says 415H. Most of our kits use the 415 chain. They aren't the same. It has the slightest different length. And its probably hitting the aluminum causing the shavings because its also a bigger chain.

Im going to assume that Cosmonaut hasnt been able to run that new 415H chain as of yet since he is missing the bucking bar and therefore cannot engage the drivetrain whatsoever...Those shavings would have had to occur when the kit provided 415 chain was on the bike when he dumped it...DAMIEN

Ps...I also took a good hard look at his pic of bike showing how chain is rigged to the bike...looks like way too much chain is there for the distance to sprocket...Suggest shortening the chain as well when the correct 415 version is installed.

This is correct. I have not yet run the bike with the new chain. The shavings all were from the previous owners and original chain.
I suppose the 415H will not work if the old chain was just 415 - ahh. One dump of the bike has caused so much headache
