This can also indicate a manifold leak, it could be sucking in air someplace. My Huasheng clone won't run period, not even sputter when the choke is on, and when it does, it's because I have an air leak. I converted to a diaphram carb by trial and error, and had that happen, if it ran with the choke on at all, it was a givaway. Bad leak it wouldn't run unless the choke was on.
