Have ya'll seen these things? They are $200 from harbor freight with a 58mm stroke.

I've seen em, but I haven't used one. I do have the 459cc max performance engine on my go kart. I am still in the process of fabrication so I haven't tried it yet.

The pred 224 already has the 58mm stroke needed, just needs a 72mm bore to get 236cc. I wonder if this can potentially be a cheaper route to a 236cc 4 stroke. I wonder if ECCarbs will sell the remaining parts (cylinder, piston and rings) separate to complete it?

The cylinder I'd attached, you'd have to bore and resleeve it.

To get it to the Tillotson level it will need a few parts

$10
$120, 8 degrees advance built in.
$133
$115

$578 total compared to the $800 for the Tillotson.

I'd probably swap out the piston and rod too.

So after all the mods + the piston and rod mods, it looks like the Tillotson 228R for $840 that can spool over 9k RPM and tested at around 23HP is a better buy?

That cam is the moderate one, there is one that runs over 9K. But, the Tillotson is drop in ready to run. I never noticed which carb it has though.

This one.

Question is; when running are you going to use the upper rpms? Turns slow you down, I put a stage 1, 6800 in my cart just for that reason.
