"best" 2 stroke is a matter of opinion. I would get a tanaka if they still made the 47R but it's out of production. I heard it was "headache" loud though which is a bit of a turnoff to me with a motorized bike. The tle43 has tons of power for me and its reasonably quiet even if i'm hot rodding the thing near its peak RPM. Seems to have a good torque curve too as I've found by fiddling with the nuvinci gearing and listening to the engine. It only really loses power if you put the gearing way too long. As other people have mentioned though it does seem to hit a "limiter" to its revs which is just exhaust and carb restriction, its capable of way WAY more. The compact design and small sound of the engine is worth the loss of high rev, high HP output. But if thats what you're looking for it can meet the need. Personally i've never heard of Tanaka before I visited these forums and researched them. Mitsubishi heavy industries is well known for its quality products.
