My engines running really high idle and when i give it gas it dies do you think i should clean the carb out? Or do you think its an air leak?

I really just want to go fast I've had this think for 2 years and its never been over 30
i think its a air leak, try to tighten the exhaust, intake, carb, and head. i would add some tape where the intake meets the carb to eliminate that possibility. it could be just plain running lean, try to lower the needle clip down one notch, and see if that helps.
dont give up!

i got to 45mph on my bike then again im using 29inch/700c wheels and a 36 tooth sprocket thats how i managed to do it seems like the perfect ratio for these motors if your looking for speed and this engine has air leaks it wont idle low or it just dies but i can tell you it got some power in it everything is stock

thats pretty impressive, ive gotten mine up to 39mph (Port and polish, plus port match). all stock motor 26er wheels and 44t sprocket, it pins at 8500!!

It sounds like an air leak to me. A common place that these little engines develop leaks is at the head gasket. I've seen these cheap stock heads actually become warped from heat. A good way to check is to start the engine and just put your hand down around the head and see if you can feel any air shooting out when you rev it. Also, check for air leaks at the carb connection and intake manifold, look for gas or oil leaking or you can use a soapy water and then start it and see if you can spot any bubbles or obvious leaks. And, yeah, it's never a bad idea to clean the carb.

So i cleaned the carb, leaned out the gas a little, ajusted the needle clip up to let less gas in because it was bogging at higher speeds 4 stroking too much, my exhausts has no baffle inside just a makeshift end cap. The whole assembly fell out I read its okay so i just left it. its running better with a 26 inch tire 10/ 44 tooth I mean i heard these little engines have bad air flow with the stock intake design. Some people telling me to switch out the jet to a smaller size because these run too rich I guess the top end is suffering its nice and snappy on the low end but up higher it kind of loses power a bit like it wants to go faster but it can't.
I've moved the e clip up down all over but its running best on 2 from the top.
I checked for air leaks and the exhaust has a slight bend at the flange causing gas to spit out the top a little.
Whats the auto ignition temp for gas again isent it like 500 or something paper is 451?

What oil ratio are you running? I've had the same problem on 25:1, try running 32:1. The auto ignition of fuel is 536°f, your engine shouldn't get hotter than 350 at the most. Have you done any port matching? If you haven't I would reccomend you try it. Its basically matching the intake manifold to the engines intake. And same for the exhaust. I've done it and it wakes up the engine! Went from 4 stroking at 28 to hitting 39mph!! And this engine has more potential if I gear it right, (my lazy ass doesn't want to swap sprockets).

I want to port it but don't want to mess it up.
Fuel oil is around 28:1 ill try 32:1 it should help.
I noticed when I looked at the intake connection to jug the little tube piece with the flange connected to the jug is already matched but there was a super restrictive gasket on there where the cylinder port meets the carb flang so I trimmed it and its running a bit better and faster. But still not where I want to be.
I will lean out the gas mix a little and see what happens.
Its more open towards the top but I can still feel it wanting to go faster I think its too rich.
I also drilled some holes in the plastic air intake cover felt like it helped.
I'm only 175 pounds.

im 175 as well, i think that your air filter might be clogged, try cleaning the foam.
becareful not going too lean, you want to keep your engine, right? ;)
good luck!
