My engine just died, and I can't get it to start again. It will sputter, but will not stay running. Running 32:1 on a fairly new (but already broken in) engine. All electronics are new, Killswitch connected but I've never had a problem with them. I've ridden about 20 miles today and it's about 82 out, maybe could it have overheated?

You said in another thread posted today that your back again...How long was the bike not been used ???...im assuming that no gas stabiliser was used when the bike was not used...Have you cleaned the carbie, Checked for a stuck float, changed the fuel filter, changed the spark plug and gap to .025 thousandths, and changed out any dead gas in the gas tank ???...This is a good place to start if what i have previously mentioned applies to your case...DAMIEN

It's been since around December I'm pretty sure. Plug is good and gapped to 0.25. I don't think I had a fuel stabilizer at the time. Other then that, I haven't touched anything but the rear wheel (that why I wasn't riding, broke my hub and never got around to getting a new one) what I'd be confused about though is how I was able to ride 20+ miles with no problem until now? Could it be the carb? And the gas was low when I got back on it (but clean) and was diluted with new gas and oil.

Yep, thats a good one to check as well when cleaning out the carbie...forgot about that one and yes thats happened to me some years back...lol...DAMIEN
Thanks for your help, I'll clean up the carb and check the jet and let you know. Also if it helps I am using the eBay HP carb if that means anything.

Somehow it seems to have fixed itself after cooling down. Still gonna check the carb and make sure it's clean.

I have one of those HP carbs, never liked it and put the NT carb back on and it runs like a scared rabbit now.

It's always been the opposite for me... Always had problems with the stock carbs but rarely had problems with the HP carbs...
