Chain tensioners and other kit parts are not created equal

I have mentioned before that the first kit I got came with much better "kit parts" or components. Here is one example. The tensioner that came with my first kit is rock solid. The second one not at all. I feel safe with the first one and won't even risk using the second one. You can see what I mean in the photo. I saw that the second kit came with a 4 bolt tensioner and I thought it would be as good as the one I had. I was way wrong on that one. The intake manifold that came with the second kit is also junk. Luckily I had a spare that is the same one as the first kit's.
Have you guys experienced this with different kits.
