4 doors? That was Fords competition for the infamous Chevy Bel Air. Didn't have the lines of the Bel Air . Good looking car though.
 
Here is my dads 63 impala ss 409, dual 4barrels, 4 speed.

You must have forgotten that in 1957 the Ford Fairlane outsold the Bel Air.
You must not have looked at 57 Chevy Bel Air or Ford Fairlane restored prices lately. That is the ultimate arbiter of which is more popular.



While both 2 door hardtop models sold for within $200 of each other as new models, today the Bel Air sells for over twice as much as a Fairlane in comparable condition.
