My first CUSTOM build

Ok, so I see everyone building their bike I figured I'd start my own build thread in hopes that I can get some good feedback and if anything ideas on where to go with everything. Here is a pic of the jig I setup and the bike sitting in roughly the place it will stand once done. This is a one off build and will be built with chromoly tubing, a pit bike engine, and a jackshaft assembly similar to what I have seen on the motopeds.com build and sickbikeparts jackshaft setup. What I have on order that should be here in a few days: exhaust, handle bars, sprockets for wheel and jack shaft, and disk brakes. What I have now: head tube, wheels and tires, engine, seat, track ends, throttle, carb, (air filter on order). What was custom made: the rear hub which is a dual disk rear from Phil Woods..This will give me disk brakes and bolt holes for the sprocket on either side of the hub. Tires are Hookworms and Halo SAS rims with a Halo Spin doctor from hub...using a Manitou Circus front fork(really stout little fork for the price)..Using a Cane Creek headset and the head tube is a 44mm 4130 tube from paragon machine works. Whats needed: tubing(measurments for tubing), 3/4" shaft for sprockets to ride on, a custom made bottom bracket or I might decide to go with SBP wide bottom bracket setup but not sure if will be wide enough for what I need(if anyone has exact measurements of how wide it is after pedals installed that would be awesome)

Now let me know your feedback..PLEASE!! 20131229_193439.jpg

Figured I should post some final pics of this build before it is sold in the near future. Moving on to another chapter building another beast but one that looks to be an even more elaborate build but a much different approach that will rival a lot of builds..if you guys want to see those updates or have questions about this build please check me out on Facebook under the group "vegaworx" ...there is also more pics of this build there as well thanks again guys for all the support and ride safe and have fun.

Very nice Build!
I envy your welding skills ;-}

I bought an engine like that (86/88cc 4-speed) and was going to build it on a custom frame but I have neither the tools or time for a project like that so I wussed out and bought a MotoPed frame.

Shifting is easy. It's a semi automatic.
I just click it to third gear and ride.
No issues and way more than enough power but thinking about putting a jockey shifter.
Is that what this is called?

Shifting is a pain in the butt with pedals, especially upshifting.

I just welded a piece of kick-stand end to the back side of the shift lever so I can use a down push to shift either direction.

It's all bent up from a crash right now, but fixable.
That added lever sure does makes it easier to shift than trying to push a lever up with your toes when your foot is on a pedal.

Like you, there is no need to shift much, it will start from a dead stop in any gear, but gears have their advantages even with a lot of power.

Again, very nice build and feather in your cap Vegas.

Wait until the new build I got going. Motoped won't have a chance. .lo..but really. .nice build as well

And yes that shifter you have if taller would be more of a jockey shifter...if it works use it..I think if I did it again would go with the new ssr engine..it's a 125cc fully automatic but e-start. And now that I'm running lights and everything else..it would be a nice little setup

I'm thinking if you REALLY want to blow people away, drop a V-8 in your next built.

You can get them here for ~$9K.

Concerned about size and power?

Well, it's not very big but the transmission might pose a problem unless you built a Trike next.

Or maybe just a 'Pocket Drag Racer'?

Why dink around with sissy little 1 cylinder engines when you have a tubro charged V-8?

I know, silly, but fun none the less and I look forward to what you take on next.
I am playing with more practical single cylinder small sized 4-strokes with bike gear shifters myself.
