So I didn't do my homework properly when I bought the standard grubee two stroke motor, and my down tube is too wide to accept the threaded posts. The down tube flares out at the bottom of the "V" to about 2.5 inches, and isn't even round, it's oval shaped. Does anyone have any idea how to mount the standard grubee two stroke to a down tube that is too wide? I have a few ideas but I'm open to suggestions.

Thanks and it feels good to be a new member of your community!

Life is easier with a max down tube diameter of 2 inches and being more or less circular.

Those funny new fangled angle frames make fitting an engine a nightmare.

They have a frame adapter on boygofast ebay site, among others. For heaven sake, don't drill the frame, as some have done, you'll be sorry. You can fabricate your own by taking a flat steel strip, drill holes to match the studs on the engine, then get a U-bolt that'll fit the frame, then drill the plate to fit. Good luck... remember that "Universal-Fit" universally fits nothing.

The Haze is right. Don't drill the frame. Order an oversize front engine mount from an engine vendor or make one yourself using a muffler clamp from an auto parts store. Search this site for front engine mount and you will see many solutions.
When i was in the Marines, we had a hot headed Capt Hayes that we called Purple Haze when he wasn't around.

Whatever you do - don't drill the frame

They call me purple haze around here because of the color of my bike, plus I'm a guitar player who does some Hendrix. LOL When I recommended the U-bolt, the muffler clamp is the same thing, and probably a lot easier to adapt. Good thinking, wheelbender!

Hendrix? Try Red House as a major scale number or Hey Joe reggae style.:jester:
