Pop, then lost most compression won't start now HELP

So, coincidence that both the head and cylinder cracked or something that can happen if things aren't right? I was reading this and it sounded exactly like a cracked head, didn't expect to see the cylinder cracked too, at least he figured it out..

Out of curiosity as well, do you have a torque wrench, every cracked/warped head was from the guy not using even torque on the bolts, leading to warps and leaks and extreme temp differences that make that lovely pop sound indicating something went wrong..
 
I think the compression coming back up isn't that hard to explain, metal changes size along with the temperature so the crack is changing size slightly. It's November after all, so figure compression testing a hot engine, then in a warm room, then when it's cold.
