Restrictor plate?

1970s bike bug motor. The inlet manifold has a paper gasket and an additional aluminium restrictor plate. I assume that it's to reduce the hp and slow down the bike. Back then they were concerned about the lawsuits and were trying to make it safer. Am I safe to remove it or will it even run without it ? Anyone else seen this?

No it's a manifold same as a China girl only smaller and the aluminum plate is the same as a paper gasket only has a rectangular shape hole in it. Yes 2 stroke.

Can't do a pic on this device cam is broken. I'll try and get one up from my tablet. But it is for all the world a restrictor plate. My question is what are the consequences of removing it?

It would need to be tuned. And make sure the gasket surfaces seal with it being removed.

I'll be trying to set it up and tune it soon. It's snowing here now but that won't last. It's a carb very similar to the happy time just smaller. I'll let you know. T

Why don't you Try [18972] removing the restrictor?
