Silencer for flex pipe exhaust?

I’m going to seal the hole where the tail pipe goes through the end cap with steel stick or something, but the muffler is finished other than that.

As long as the cap doesn't come off, you really don't have to seal it up. The exhaust will expel right down the middle anyway, path of least resistance, right?

Yes but the tail pipe isn’t secured to anything inside the muffler and I don’t want it to fall out, that’s the only reason I’m going to seal it
