'The Beast' Reborn

The Beast has gone through some more morphing lately.
Now the Tanaka 47r is mounted above the top tube, it has a homegrown shift kit running thru 9 speeds on the cassette though all 9 aren't used.
The bike is an absolute thrill to ride now & the gear shifting has bumped the fun factor by 100%, allowing the 2 stroke engine to stay 'on the boil'.
Cheers,

Looks positively terrifying. I was so enjoying my friction setup &
hoping a new roller tire config. would finally defeat the wet season.
No such luck. It works better in the wet than previous efforts, but
still useless on frost or moss. A lot of frost so far, dangerous on any
bike, but I'm still riding at max situational awareness. Back to the
belt drive is my next move.

Rawly,
Friction drive is nice in so many ways most of all being so simple. It has its merits and drawbacks like any drive system.
I went from v-belt, to friction, to chain in that order. I think I like chain the best since it can be integrated into a std bicycling transmission to give a complete range of gearing based on engine type, terrain, performance needs etc. Up until now, I was stuck in one ratio.
Funny thing too cause both my road bikes (pedal only) are single speed...lol

Wonder how long it will take until the weight of the EX. pipe bouncing around tears it off the motor?

IB,
Here are some detailed pics of the two places the pipe is being supported. One is right out of the engine, and the other is where the header pipe ends and the expansion chamber begins & its rubber mounted there for the vibes.
It aint going anywhere...lol

Or the contents thereof:giggle:
Have you got a reduction box bolted to the 47R? I don't
understand; if the engine is on the left side, the rotation
would reverse the chain? I can't see where the jack shaft
comes in to change it forward again?

Rawly,
The 5:1 pocket bike gearbox reverses the rotation of the PTO (mounting it on the left side drives the chain forward).
Cheers

thot it had to be sumpin like that cuz I couldn't
locate the jack shaft. Where'd ya get the gear box?
Would it be possible to replace the cog with a pulley?
