Whizzer Rides - Stories and Pictures

Howzit Everyone,
My ride around Lake Elsinore today 10/20/19 reminded me of a story.

Back in June 2014 I rode my Whizzer to a Car and Motorcycle Show at Lake Elsinore Stadium.
I went there to see my friend who entered his 1970 Dodge Challenger in the show.
I parked my Whizzer By my friends car.
When the Judges were walking around judging the cars and motorcycles.
The Judges asked who owned the Whizzer and was it entered in the show?
I told them it was mine and it was not enter in the show.
After about 1/2 hour one of the judges came back and asked me questions about my Whizzer.
I told him it was a Metric Reproduction 2005 Whizzer I had rebuilt.
The Judge said I had a nice bike and it was too bad I was not entered in the show.
As the Judge was walking away he said" It's not too late to enter"
I took that as a HINT. I paid the $20 and entered my Whizzer.

When it came time to give out the Motorcycle Trophies
First was Best Modern Harley
Second was Best Vintage Harley
Third was Best Metric Cruiser and they called out my bike.

My friends 1970 Dodge Challenger Won Best of Show ( sorry no picture )
We both went home winners
That Day was a lot of FUN
I wish I had brought my camera ( no pictures of that day )

I took the Brass Whizzer Badge off my bike and put it with the trophy
I bought a New Reproduction Vintage Whizzer Badge and put it on my bike

ALOHA Wrench

Years ago, Monterey Bay CA. Fort Ord and Pebble Beach
Love to RV and take my Whizzer with me. I should take some new pictures next time I go. These pictures are from 14 years ago.
I go to Monterey a couple times a year. I only took pictures of my rides the first time I went. When I'm riding I don't like to keep on stopping to take pictures. I just wanna ride. I ride many more places around Monterey. Someday I'll post pictures. New pictures
I'm sure I'll be back this year. Ever hear of the famous 17 Mile Drive at Pebble Beach Monterey Bay? There are no motorcycles allowed on that 17 mile stretch of coast line it's a gated community. But I know how to sneak in. No one has ever said anything yet. I have got some strange looks from the gate guards when I'm leaving. Ya see I can't go out the way I sneaked in because it's a very steep hill. Too steep for my Whizzer to climb. When I went down that steep hill the first time I wasn't sure where it went and it dead ended.
But on the other side of the sidewalk was the 17 Mile Drive road. So I hopped the curb and I was in. I've tried to go through the front gate before but the guards said no motorcycles and wouldn't let me in.
I meet some interesting people. The Whizzer is always a conversation starter.
If ya look at that picture of the map and where it shows Marina and Moss landing I just keep riding and go all the way to Moss Landing.
From where I park my RV if I go Left I ride through Monterey and go by the Aquarium along the coast to Pebble Beach 17 Mile Drive.
If I go right I end up at Fort Ord and ride along the coast all the way to Moss Landing. Fun Fun Fun

Found some more Monterey Bay pictures from 2016 at Pebble Beach and a couple of pictures on a bike trail I'm not suppose to be on.
I have to jump on and off the bike trail to get around and by pass the busy highway. Some people walking and others on bicycles yell at me and say get the @%^*&%# out of here. I slow way down so I don't scare anyone but I still get yelled at. No big deal really because when I'm on those parts of the bike trails I'm way away from town.
Of course I had to go fishing. Catching Lingcod and Rock Cod.

Howzit Everyone,
I took my Whizzer to the So Cal Desert the last week of Jan 2020. We stayed at a RV park called Sunbeam Lake.
My Gal and I come out here every winter. She likes to go bird watching. There is a huge bird migration at the Salton Sea Ca.
I usually let my Gal run off with her friends and go bird watching while I go ride my Whizzer.
Endless roads out here in the Desert. There is nothing only Desert. Iv'e ridden out to the Salton Sea before but not on this trip.
My First ride was 92 miles round trip up and down HWY 98. I stopped at the Lazy Lizard Bar in the one stop sign town of Ocotillo for a beverage. Then rode out to the Wind Farm to see the huge wind mills then back to the RV site.
My other rides were around 50 miles round trip out to the Bombing range where I saw the Navy Blue Angles practicing their tricks.
I took a ride over to the Navy El Centro Air Station to get a better look. The Blue Angles were practicing for an up coming show.
N.A.S EL Centro is the winter home of the Blue Angles
On another day I rode out to Centinela State Super Max Prison. Also out in the middle of no where. I didn't see anyone I know.
I tried something new and took pictures while I was riding. You will notice a small mountain in some of the pictures This Mountain is called Signal Mountain 1/2 the Mountain is in Mexico and the other 1/2 is in USA CA. You can see the building of the Border Wall at Signal Mountain. Also notice the Mountain range in the distance. This will give ya an idea of how far 50 miles is in the desert. As I ride past Signal Mountain to the mountain range on the horizon into the wind farm then back to the RV site. I'm at sea level so the bike runs real good.
I have a lot of Fun just riding to nowhere in the middle of the Desert and back.
Tried to take some pictures of what's out here - NOTHING - I took pictures while riding my Whizzer every where I went But all the pictures kinda looked the same Long Long Roads and Desert.
Next trip will be up to Central CA. or Northern CA.
ALOHA

Howzit Everyone,
I heard through the grape vine some people were wondering what I've been up to.
My RV trips have been canceled this year cause of the China Virus. We think we'll take a year off.
Been riding my M/C through the SO CAL mountains and hanging with the club.
Still riding my Whizzer just around the local area. going on 25, 50, and 75 mile rides.
Today I went to hang out at a lake close by. Good times full of serenity.
ALOHA

Ok,,, your poking the bear Wrench,,, now I need to heed the warning signs of the road ahead...

Just so I can be Whizzer... lol...

I'll be honest,,, at first I didn't really take note of this ride you have going,,, but for some strange reasons un-known to me """yet,""" something is starting to get me looking and thinking...

I don't really know what I want to ask since this is something I have never encountered in all of my life time...

Ive seen alot of bikes here in our Americas,,, but I've never seen a Whizzer till joining this forum...

At first I thought they were from across the pond,,, a bit of research tells me that they are from the USA,,, IF so,,, how come I never seen one up here in Western Canada,,, Alaska,,, or Eastern Canada...

Where exactly are they from,,, what happened to them,,, and is there such a thing as a manufacturer of them...

I must of had my horse blinders on pretty tight at first,,, but now I'm starting too look at them in a diffrent light for some reason...

What would a fellow like me in my mid years of good times think about something like this,,, are they finky,,, hard to find parts for,,, what would some of the disadvantages be in this category of bike...

Cost is partly a factor,,, but whats the real dirt on the ground that prevents guys like me from digging deeper into what is really going on Wrench...

I'm sure if anyone with a awesome set of wheels that you are sharing with us,,, there must be something that im kind of missing...

I cant put my finger on it,,, but I'm starting to see something I'm not seeing in other rides...

Goosh I wish I knew what it is,,, thats why I have to ask...

Hopefully you could share a bit more of your story on how you begin this Whizzer journey that got it started,,, unless I missed it in the beginning stages...

Maybe I can explain more of what id like to ask,,, but the questions haven't quite come to me yet,,, probably because I'm a slow thinker...

www.whizzermotorbike.com click on History.
I wish I could say it was a good bike right out of the Box. It's a long story of how to make a Modern Whizzer or a Clone Cruzzer reliable.
Sadly I can't recommend the Taiwan Clone called Cruzzer Motorbike. It has problems too.
If ya want, read the Whizzer section threads from as far back as they go You'll understand Whizzer has some problems.
Taiwan took a Good American Design and F^%ked it all up. Americans were not happy.
Vintage Whizzer made around 250,000 Whizzers. More Vintage Whizzers are on the road than the modern Whizzer
Modern Whizzer made around 15,000 Whizzers. Only a few bikes in the world have over 30,000 miles. most died at 500 miles.
Dead modern Whizzers are only worth $500 or less. The new 2005 NE-5 was $1,500
Cruzzer is a clone and don't count I don't recommend it www.wc1manufacturer.wordpress.com/ www.whizzercruzzerparts.com
All the bugs can be worked out on the Modern Whizzer or the Clone Cruzzer and ya can even make a 70 mph OHV monster. http://pbseng.com/whizzer/
Hopefully Whizzer will be made in USA again someday.
Hopefully an American will make parts (CYLINDER) to fix all the dead Whizzers
One man Did already named Ralph Westman and made Cast Iron Cylinders and aluminum heads which fixed many many bikes. I have one on my bike. Sadly Ralph passed away last year (May he rest in peace) and his parts are not available anymore I keep waiting for an auction of his Whizzer parts.
The majority of Dead Whizzers is because of bad valve seats on the 1999 to 2004 WC-1 Whizzer
The only man I know that will fix the WC-1 valve seats is @Quenton Guenther
I can't recommend the Cruzzer Cyl because the Taiwan quality can't be trusted.
But Vintage Whizzer H Cylinders can be put on modern Whizzers. USA saves the day

Vintage Whizzer are being found every month if not every week and are being rebuilt and restored to live another life
Made in USA Quality

Thanks Wrench,,, I looked at the Whizzer threads a bite last night,,, I will definitely do some more readings coming up...

Yes,,, it sound like they got off to a good start,,, over time things changed I guess...

But yes,,, i will do some more reading about them,,, They have body lines that seem to flow,,, and fenders that come in handy when its raining... Ha

Don

IMO 2005 to 2007 NE-5 were Whizzers best years The NE-5 had the valve seats cast into the Cyl. The 1999 to 2004 WC-1 the valve seats were pressed fitted and came loose from heat expansion only after 500 miles. When the NE-5 came out in 2005 The NE-5 top end kit's were offered to fix the WC-1. Now it's impossible to find a NE-5 top end kit. The new Cruzzer top end kit Quality can't be trusted.
Ralph Westman Cast Iron Cylinders are no longer available.

The NE-5 worked good right out of the box after tuning the bike. But many Auto clutch soon had problems as the center shaft
was not hardened properly and the one way bearing would eat into it. @Quenton Guenther replaced the shaft with a hardened shaft and many auto clutches were saved I have two Thank you Quenton. Others switched to the manual slip clutch.
Sadly Taiwan never could make a properly hardened clutch shaft and never corrected the problem. @Quenton Guenther had new Auto Clutches made in USA by Max Torque Clutch and are still available today
The Ne-5 had another problem the valve lifters were too soft and would fail. Whizzer USA had a 1 year warranty with 90 day free labor. and took care of that problem it only lasted for the first year 2005.
Many other upgrades can be done to improve the reliability, power and speed of the NE-5.
All the bugs can be worked out of the Whizzers It helps to be mechanically inclined.
It's a JOY to ride a properly tuned Whizzer As ya know I have had my 2005 NE-5 for 15 years and have put over 37,700 hard miles on my bike. I do highly recommend the Whizzer Motorbike. But ya just gotta know what your getting into.
The few problem that the Whizzer had were too much for most to overcome and fix.

When My Whizzer turned 30,000 miles I decided to build a spare NE-5 motor. I also have NOS NE-5 Whizzer parts stocked.
I am now ready for anything. My Whizzer is a Keeper. The secret to long engine life is routine maintenance.
I always joke I'll be riding that Whizzer to Church when I'm 90 years old :ROFLMAO:
