I agree with many of the posters above--30 or below seems to be the best, IMO.

BUT, of course, it's always going to depend on the quality of the bike you're motorizing.
I don't even think it depends on the overall quality of the bike... just the quality of the tires and brakes. I've heard several times that those are the two most important things on a motored vehicle, and motored bikes are no exception.

Don't skimp on the tires (pay extra for the better compound), use tire liners (even homemade liners, like wore out tires or some kinda tape), don't obstruct the tires (with fenders, etc.), and always adjust/replace brakes when necessary.

Well said, I'll definitely admit. It reminds me that I need to beef up on my tires this season and get some heavy duty ones...

Also though, let us not forget about the wheels/rims/spokes, themselves: I've had my wheels "trued" at least every 1000 miles; around 1500 miles I had to rebuild a wheel due to a split rim; around 1800 miles, my MB sprung a spoke that I've yet to replace (and how many more are going to spring?).

That also reminds me...I need to read more about upgrading my front wheel now, as well as the spokes on both wheels...

Well, back to researching mb.com!

don't obstruct the tires (with fenders, etc.), .

Fenders are OK - I think they are as essential as night light because riding in the wet without fenders is utter misery. Don't forget that all bikes had fenders until recently. That was when function was form and form was function.

good point made Irish John

fenders when mounted properly are a great THING
think that the problem comes in with after market fenders
that in some cases don't have proper mounting brackets

factory fenders are (((not know))) to be going into the spokes

note -- very surprized to see the 35 or less mph picking up so much here on thread ?????????

ride thee motor bike thing

It's funny on the votes,I bet all us old guys voted for slower speeds and all the younger crowd voted for faster speeds.:D:D

The older you get the longer it takes for the bones to heal.

Like the old joke goes,

What is the last thing to cross a bugs mind when he hits your windshield?

Answer: His A%S!!!!!!!!!!!:giggle::giggle:

I would hate to be in the same situation with a cager.HEHEHEHE!!!!!!

if your bike is safe and built for the speed and you wear the appropriate gear then i'm one to believe that a faster speed is acceptable.

I wear my motorcycle gear when out riding my motored bike and i've ordered a new set of lights and turn signals with a few more things from dealxtreme 'rubs hands together' ^_^

Fenders are a must if riding in the rain. They should be mounted properly with the right mounting hardware. And checked before every ride for cracks and other possible problems.Preventive maintenance goes a long ways.

Like shrek says It's better to be safe than sorry.:D:D

try to get a glimpse of the speedometer as your going over the handlebars.then subtract 5 miles per hour.that will give you your safe riding speed.

A bike without fenders looks like a house without chimneys.
