2 speed direct drive shifting system?

here's something I found that might inspire a 2 speed transmission. but I think it would have to also use a centrifugal clutch on a jack shaft, and might just be too complicated but in one position, it's normal drive gear and can engage a different ratio with a lever. I found this on bicycle-engines and think it's from the BT80 engine. more compact than any belt system is why I like this

not sure exactly what they are originally for, but it would be cool to tinker with these

I always thought a pulley system would be neat on a rusted steampunk style build
