Built myself a YD100 bottom end motor with the Zelda 100 top end reed valve one piece head ,nibbi 26mm racing carb ,Being minus 1 leg to peddle start , I'm thinking of electric front hub drive wheel to get me up to speed to drop the clutch and get my motor running , thinking this should work does anyone foresee problems or am I good to go with this idea ????

Welcome to the forum. Wow, why wouldn't it work? Sounds like a great idea to get it going. A solution to make your life easier. If you do show us some pics of the progress/final build please. I'm glad your still kicking and able to join us. Is your C in remission/gone if you care to share?

I definitely think thats a much better idea than trying to attach a pull start to these little beastie motors...I have seen in the forums how many people go that route and the pull starts always seem to break and fail everytime, usually breaking other things in the process.

The Ebike type front hub sounds like a very elegeant solution to his unique situation.

There's always 2&4 stroke kits with pull starts. You aren't limited to mid-frame mounts. I use a rear rack mount. I understand your desire; I've had 5 heart surgeries throughout my life time and live in the mountains.

I have a hard time pedaling. A medication induced toxic thyroid, and then the Steroid treatments took all my muscle strength. That was 7 years ago. Hell, I played senior softball for 4 years, was the trainer in the weight room, was in the best shape of my life. Gone. If I was on the floor, I can barely get standing without a chair or other support. All this has been after a heart attack in '05, my 5th pacemaker, and many trips to the OR.
This sucks. :)

It would be a great combo. I'm wondering about placement of 2 throttles.

The only thing I'd be worried about is the engine pushing the hub faster than the electric motor can and causing damage to the electric motor. I'm no expert on electric motors however, so you might want to do some research. I think you could probably get a kick stand that props the rear wheel off the ground and spin the pedals by hand, and then pop the clutch, but I've never tried that.

I generally have zero issues with starting my bike because I have an electric start engine.

I think the idea he is going for is to just use the ebike front hub just long enough to propel the bike to start the gas engine and from there, just turn off the electric hub and go with just the gas motor.
