Does cooling the exhaust down make it quieter? I don't expect it would

And back to the putty thing. I meant like putting it on the inside of the metal walls of the muffler. Would that reduce ringing, and sound waves bouncing off it?

That hot block putty will probably allow the jb weld to last longer too if it's the heat that's making it brittle
