How much money did you waste trying to go with cheap parts on motorized bikes?

Its becoming apparent, that the cheap stuff fails.
In fact most of the stuff fails.

Even in the case of friction drive, you're going to spend a lot of money on tires. Even if you buy one set of slicks..... That's basically $100. Money that could have just gone to a more robust kit in the first place. Like staton gear box chain drive with LH freewheel.

Broken engines, broken spokes/wheels, cheap transmissions/clutches.
Got to ask why?

Buying stuff that breaks is just throwing money away. Only seems cheaper temporarily.

BTW how did your $45 bike turn out? I don't remember seeing a pic. Did ya go friction drive?

I haven't motorized it yet but I've pedaled it over a hundred miles......
Anyone else's arm go to sleep when they ride long way? Just the position
It's about $130 now that I added some add-ons.

Mirror
Little phone bag
Pump
Bottle holder
Blinky lights
grips
higher rise handlebar

The key is a moped hub with sealed bearings and a drum brake. The cnc adapters are crap too because there's no keyway+walmart coaster hub = going against spokes possibly breaking them.

Way to much money spent lol

Yuup arm and hand go to tinglin lol

Nice bike you got there. Have you gone electric yet?

View attachment 101601.

There doesn’t seem to have room for a midframe engine.

Looks like a rear engine project.

My sprocket hub adapter has never slipped.

I did however, take a bit off each meeting end on both pieces and scored some grooves into each piece where the hub goes.

I think they are good if one is to go ahead and do what needs to be done to them.

We've all seen how they mess spokes up when they slip though...what happened to yours Will?
