Tanaka 40cc

001.jpg Only 1 week old and rode maybe 10 miles. Its just not for me, too loud. $275+ Shipping. I guess i'm gonna have to bite the bullit and maybe buy the honda 50. FYI the oil I used was lucas 50:1. This is a good deal these puppies are expensive.

I thought mine was too loud when I got it, but it's toned down
a lot once it was broken in. I've got the stock can on it, and it's
now not as loud as the average lawn mower, maybe half again as
loud as my 35cc honda.

Sure hope you don't regret that Darwin, you're gonna lose power, gain weight and complication.I got half of the noise gone with a silicone pipe and silencer on the exhaust. After proper break-in I'm going to work the intake end, as yes they are throaty (I have to wear earplugs) but worth the noise in the power/torque.

No regrets, very happy owning 2 Hondas now. Tanakas so loud a fire truck passed me by sirens blaring and I didn't even know it till it passed.

Second that ,grem,
My 50cc 4 stroke was heavy, unresponsive, & generally a disappointment.
it was rated at the same hp as the 40cc tanaka, but the performance didn't
even come close. Just no comparison, the tanaka would run circles 'round
the 4 stroke. I still love my 35cc honda but it's in a different league

Wow, that IS loud, if you can't hear an oncoming fire engine. My Tanaka 47R wasn't that loud, using ADA S1 pipe or the Tanaka-specific 3-piece pipe. I use a center-mount drive w/shift kit. Having 8-speeds lowers engine speed/engine noise.

The stock exhaust can on the tanaka 40cc is a loud bugger.
I replaced it with a std china girl drop down pipe & it cut the noise in half an added top end power (less restrictive, no catalyst, some expansion powerband happening). Then wrapped it in header wrap to avoid the burns.
