Two Stroke Oil

What brand oil do you guys run? I run Stabil Full Synthetic right now but I was thinking of switching to Lucas 2 stroke racing oil.. Have you guys ever tried it? I don't know much about 2 strokes tbh but in my automotive history, good oil = worth the extra $$... I worked at an auto parts store and was using pennzoil for a few oil changes b/c I was getting it cheap as hell... and all of a sudden there was a slight knock... switched it up to a better oil w/ some lucas, it went away... made a lucas fan out of me for life... hence why I was looking into their 2 stroke oil... but I saw it was semi synthetic and I wanted full synthetic but then I saw the racing oil which is specifically made for dirt bikes
Verified my suspicion that Pennzoil was almost as bad as Valvoline. Never trust a product that relies on saturation advertising. Havoline is the best, before you go synthetic.

You really need to learn more than what you think you already know when it comes to oil...I worked for Ashland Oil, AKA Valvoline for 20 years or so before my second and last retirement...lol.

Synthetic oil is superior as long as it is not derived from a "cracked hydrogenation" process, AKA (hydrocracking/hydroprocessing), process which really only qualifies as a semi-synthetic oil in the rest of the world other than the USA....,This is what Mobil One actually is in chemical analysis, a semi-synthetic oil because it is made from a cracked hydrogenated process and must be labeled as such in the rest of the world markets.

As far as synthetics go, Amsoil, VP, Royal Purple, Lucas, and ELF for 2 cycle motors...and Amsoil, Valvoline, VP, Royal Purple, Lucas and ELF oil for 4 cycles...Did you notice I did not mention Valvoline for 2 cycle???...They only make conventional and semi-synthetic for 2 strokes.

Bottom line is that most oil refineries, in this country at least, are more than capable of producing group II and Group III base stocks needed to make high quality synthetics, They ALL know how to make oil from base stocks, the only real differences in any refiners oils, boils done to the additive packages that are used in their oils.

Ps...Valvoline chemists told me the reason Valvoline does not make a full synthetic for 2 strokes is because it is a small niche market that Amsoil has already cornered, they see no reason to compete in that market as they also said that Amsoil synthetic is the best oil in the 2 stroke market.

Additive Pkgs make or break an oil company, just ask Quaker State, once the most preferred oil on the east coast of the US, UNTIL, they screwed up the additive pkg which resulted in the oil turning almost into a solid and ruined many, many, car engines that QS had to pay for which almost shut them down for good...Now-a-days, you next to never here about Quaker State oil after this fiasco, The brand name never recovered from that one mistake.

In case you didn't know it, Quaker State IS Pennzoil and Visa Versa, and Shell Pic, AKA, Royal Dutch Shell, the parent company, is the proud owner of both...lol...lol...lol.

Also for your information Texaco owns Chevron which in turn owns Havoline.

Just in case you can't see what I am getting at, ALL of these oil companies and refineries are owned by huge corporate parent companies that use what you call "saturation advertising".
They are not mom and pops, setting up shop out in the old fields selling oil in Mason Jars to passersby...lol...lol.

Valvoline's standard multipurpose 2 stroke oil is one of the better and cleaner burning standard oils I have used.

I run Pennzoil's Platinum synthetic 4 stroke oil in my car, and of all of the off the shelf oils I have run, it's been the best I have used in multiple vehicles and engines. Including my lawnmower (great way to use up those 1/4 to 1/2 quart leftovers from my oil changes.)

Ester base stock synthetics are by far the "best" synthetics, and also the only true synthetic oils on the market. Being fully synthesized also means they are very expensive, even compared to more standard synthetics. Motul 800 Ester based 2 stroke oil is probably one of the best oils on the market full stop, and one of the few ester based oils out there for 2 strokes. And at 30 dollars a liter, the price reflects that

Found this at harbor freight today, it says it's full synthetic, I figured I'd give it a shot. Does anyone know if they contract out to a company for oil, and if so what company?

You DO realise that this no name, unknown refiner, 8 ounce bottle of this crap works out to being 28 dollars a quart plus tax.

You can get a full quart of any good, well known product, like Amsoil Dominator full synthetic 2 stroke oil for $17.29 plus tax...Just saying...lol.
