I almost have my bt80 MB finished(for now 😂), all I have to do is wire up some turn signals. I've got a decent understanding of wiring, and I can keep it simple. I got my saddlebags in and mounted, here is the semi-final product of my bike.

And the question I have is does anybody know if there are any CDI's online that work with the bt80.

Your ignition system doesn't work like the typical 2 strokes made for MBs. You have a 6 coil stator (5 charge, 1 ignition) with a trigger pickup. Your engine works pretty much like a small motorcycle engine.

In theory you could run a separate CDI box and coil if you wanted to upgrade. The issue is that you would need a way to program the timing curve, or find a cdi with an appropriate timing curve to work with your engine. I would need to have one in hand and test some things to really get a better understanding on what type of CDI it runs.

Honestly, if it works I would just run it. If your goal is better power, there are other (easier) ways to achieve it without wasting money on ignition stuff at this point.

I'm not really looking for performance, I'm I just need something with a longer plug wire, and I didn't think the bt coil is removable
Go to local auto and buy another plug wire, or junk yard, cut it down to the right length. The existing wire will just unscrew from CDI.

You might have to whittle the wire down some to get it to screw in.
