I'm new to pretty much anything to do with engines. I just bought a motorized bike kit and hope to mess around with gear ratios to make it go faster. One question i do have is how do you start the engine? My engine isn't pull start, i think it's supposed to be electric-start, it has a button for that on the throttle, but how does it even get the electricity to start the engine when the engine is off?

welcome

yes gear ratios can make one go faster -- higher gear = more speed
but will also not be strong on hills
so we take into consideration riding conditions before deciding on gearing

that button -- may just be a kill switch -- not sure what kind of engine you have ?

have fun as you ride that MB thing

Most of these are pedal start. Pedal to about 10mph, and let out the clutch. While still pedalling, give it some gas and adjust the choke until she fires. Cheers
