Pictures of motorized bike projects and bike builds. Vote for the best build!
Here is my latest build. I had John and Nick helping with this one. We built it in about 8 hours or so, but a lot of time was also wasted going on scavenger hunts for parts (much of which was sitting in traffic). A lot of Schwinn Stingray choppers have been converted to motorized bikes, but I never really liked the way they looked after moving everything around to fit an adult. This one is a little different (it was already converted to adult size before I motorized it). The stock seat can't really be moved up off the frame and still look like it belongs on the bike. This one has a good springer saddle instead. Also, the ape-hanger handle bars are the best way to get the hand grips up where an adult can reach them. They give...
A few more pictures of my Dad's Monark Supertwin - not ridden in the past 55 years!:D I'm new to the site, but I don't seem to find a lot of "OLD" motorbikes, mostly converted newer bicycles. When I opened the headlight up, the picture shows what I found (instructions on how to install the batteries) - the one thing I need is a lens for the taillight
well finally got around to this project . it was a motorized ratfink bike but due to vibrations it cracked in half . the top tube broke in to and the cracks at the bottom of the seat post cracked in half so i threw it on the side of the house for about a year . so finally took it to a welder and cut out the top tube and replaced it with chromoly pipe and welded on a motor mount pipe to stop the vibration and welded up the extra cracks and pretty much welded were i thought it might crack in the future. took it apart and sent it to the powdercoater a nice blue and put back in the engine and what a ride it is . so far all stable no cracks and riding sweet! larry ca
Here's a link to a photo of my 2005 Whizzer NE5. This was purchased off eBay, and the seller disassembled it for shipping without tagging the ends of the wiring. I'm going through that now with the service manual to make sure we have it all correct. http://i191.photobucket.com/albums/z21/KilroyCD/My%20Bikes/100_0822.jpg For those on dial-up who want a smaller, more quick to load photo:
Hello everyone, I received my engine kit in the mail Monday night. I have it all together and on the bike, minus the gas tank and drive chain. The chain that came with the kit is too short :-x. So I ordered a new one from dax... and from what I hear it will be a while before it gets shipped :(. I'm patient and all, but ****! I've been waiting constantly the past few weeks. Schools been going by especially slow, because I want to come home and put some more pieces of the bike together:) Sorry for the crappy picture... my room is small and my bike is large. Quick question to fellow stingray enthusiasts... Would I be able to mount V-brakes to my front forks using the holes utilized by the cruiser pegs? has anyone done this? -thanks
This is the first bike I built for myself, but my second build overall... first one was a practice build for my gF. I used a tower standoff for the front engine mount, front disc brake kit using rear freewheel, rear rim brake, LiveFast Sprocket Mount, drilled 33t sprocket, 90 bent springer, Large antique style springer seat, and single pull front/rear brake lever. I really didn't want to use the stock tank, but I'm too lazy to build a rack mount for the rear tank I bought from Dax. After mounting the tank, it really didn't look too bad...kinda matched the lines of the bike. I used 1.5 pvc pipe clamps from home depot and painted them black. The pvc flexed perfectly to fit the oval top tube.
Here is my first bike. I paid $15 for the frame with tires at a thrift store, painted them and put a 48cc engine on that I got from eBay for $150. I had a little trouble with my clutch at first (bearing fell out), but it's up and running now. http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b359/fylerc1/IMG_6252.jpg http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b359/fylerc1/IMG_6253.jpg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vfr8mY7DsmU I also have mounted a 50 cal ammo box (not pictured) to a rack that goes over my back tire. I'll try to upload a picture of that once I re-mount it. I've got another kit ordered and plan to film the installation of it for youtube as the instructions that came with my kit weren't very informative.
It's a GT Kustom Kruiser Duece. It's really MINE, but i'll let megan THINK its hers, haha. chopper forks, 3" wide rear tire. Ape-hangers. Got most of it complete except mounted rear sprocket. just using spare parts here and there. megan is confused by coaster brakes...something about pedaling backwards to stop, she has trouble comprehending:rolleyes:. so the only way to use handbrakes on front was to put them on the backside of the neck, and let the pads rub right on the tire. it'll chew them up faster, but i can get the pads for free. i'd like to keep the wide tire, but if the chain wont clear with just one extra spacer, i'll havbe to go to reg. width tire. i dont wanna run into vibration probs.
Well, Here it is, my first bike. I took the pics just a few hours before I finished the sprocket and chain because it was sunny out. Amazingly the thing fired right up no problem and i took it for a ride around the lake. I must admit that i dont think this is the right style of bike for 30mph. Its extremely ridgid and rides rough at speed. here are a couple pics: http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jeffseim/100_1454.jpg http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jeffseim/100_1455.jpg
This will be my first bike that I have made for this Fourm. Its a 80cc(65cc) with a pull start and a centrifical clutch. Modified muffler and front mount. Better Pictures are here. Had it out today and it runs great. Its around -2C so i am going out for only 20 mins at a time. Pictures are below. By the way I built this myself, no help and being 17 Im proud!! Also the Pipe just has ducktape cuz I forgot to attach the mufler till today and nothing is open. http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/gg290/mcmullin_4555/100_0124.jpg http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/gg290/mcmullin_4555/100_0123.jpg http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/gg290/mcmullin_4555/100_0122.jpg http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/gg290/mcmullin_4555/100_0121.jpg...
Heres my bike I finished today. New paint, polish of the chrome and it looks good as new. Its a bit of a squeeze but it fits perfectly. Petrol tank mounting will need to be improved sometime. Had the engine on my mountain bike but wanted something a bit more comfortable and still be able to use the MTB using pedal power, so heres what happened-
Here are some pictures of my bikes. All 70cc 2-strokes but the Schwinn will be a Honda 50cc 4-stroke as soon as I can get the kit. The Giant Elwood is my most recent - finished it today and it has 700c wheels which make it very smooth and noticeably faster but I pedal harder on big hills. If it gets too much on the hills I'll put a 48 tooth sprocket on it but I don't think I'll need to. The carby floods when I open the throttle but I'm sure someone will help me fix that problem. The tandem has no motor because my passenger does the pedalling!
Hello, Hopefully I have attached some photos of my Bike . It is in a bit of a mess at the moment , it has been used on a regular basis since I built it about 4 years ago . I used a Honda Gx 31 driving through a Staton 5:1 reduction gearbox to an intermediate shaft . This allows the drive to be transferred to the opposite side of the bike via a freewheel , and is then geared down to give approximately 176 RMP at the roadwheel . The rack it is mounted on was brazed together from box section mild steel tubing. I then put it all in a "Ketter" top box to make it look nice. I really enjoy using this bike , it has given me a lot of pleasure . Thanks for looking Madbikebloke
ok well here it is im new to the forum and the bike isnt quit finished yet though I am expecting maybe this weekend it will get started up for the first time. Only thing stopping it right now is to chop down the drive shaft and to give the guide tube a propper bend to allow it to still spin without any problem. Note though as being the prototype one cant peddle it in this setup you will see in the following pictures. Also it still needs breaks figured I should mention that haha. But anyways this is it so far
